Ferrari’s illustrious history is undoubtedly filled with countless models that are widely regarded as stunningly beautiful automobiles. However, perhaps none represents its respective era in a more iconic way than the fabled 1980’s-1990’s model line sharing the “Testarossa” moniker. Penned by legendary Italian design studio Pinninfarina, the 512TR is absolutely unmistakable with its signature elongated side strakes, strikingly wide, flat engine cover extending into the vehicle’s exaggerated rear haunches, and unashamedly-Nineties pop-up headlights. Keeping in line with its looks, the 512TR was every bit the high-performance supercar of its era. Powered by one of Ferrari’s very last flat-12 engines, the powerplant boasts a healthy 428 horsepower and 368 foot-pounds of torque from its 4.9 liters of displacement. With the potent 12-cylinder paired to a classic, tactile, gated 5-speed manual transmission, the TR is capable of sub-5 second runs to 60mph with an even more impressive top speed just shy of 200mph. While some Ferraris of yore have been criticized for performance that falls well short of their looks, the 512TR is surely not one of them!
Porsche of Beachwood is proud to offer this striking 1992 512TR with only 6,000 miles (~9,700 kilometers) on the odometer, recently acquired from its second owner. While it may not have the factory’s protective wrapping any longer, this example is not far from it, having been safely stored in a climate-controlled facility throughout its recent past. The vehicle has been properly maintained both mechanically and cosmetically, benefitting from a recent engine-out timing belt service, which also included a new throwout bearing in addition to fresh fluids and filters. This major service was performed in October 2016 and has been fully documented by the experienced technician/Ferrari specialist who performed the work. As of the completion of this maintenance, the vehicle is worry-free mechanically and only shows minor signs of wear cosmetically. Note that while the car is currently shown with Ferrari’s OEM F512M carbon fiber “Sportive” bucket seats, it also includes the factory original leather sport seats. The classic Rosso Corsa paint continues to shine, while the two-tone black and tan full leather interior is free of cracks, punctures, wrinkles, or peeling. With less than 2,500 512TR units produced and barely 400 delivered to North America from model years 1992-1994 (fewer than one-third of the original Testarossas manufactured), this iconic Ferrari would make a welcome addition to any collector’s stable. Adding further interest and desirability for the prudent Ferrari aficionado, our vehicle also includes the optional 5-piece Schedoni tan leather luggage set (including dust covers), one of the few original factory options for 512TR clients. Porsche of Beachwood is excited to offer this unique and desirable Ferrari to our customers both local and abroad, and we welcome any and all further inquiries that may be needed to solidify your decision to purchase such a prestigious automobile.
